We optimized the process of sending out client portal invites. This update will make client portal control more flexible.
Update overview
In the past, the default system setting was sending client portal invites automatically when a new case was created. (Unless you skipped the email or chose 'Case Only Visible to Attorney')
In this update, we reversed this setting. The 'Case Only Visible to Attorney' option is no longer existed.
When adding a new case with the default setting, no client portal will be auto activated. But don’t worry, for those of you who love sending out invites upon case creation, we got you!
The most important tip about this update
DO NOT SKIP the client email if you plan to enable the client portal at some point. (This will make the process a whole lot easier!) This program will not send anything to your clients by default.
How to take advantage of this update?
A. Enable client portal/invites upfront
- Select your Case Type and Subtype
- Enter the petitioner and beneficiary info
- For existing client(s), search and select their profile from the dropdown menu
- For new client(s), enter name and email address. ENABLE 'Send client portal login password'
- ENABLE 'Share case with client(s)'
- Select the Task list and Save
By doing this, your client(s) will receive the login credential upon the case creation.
B. Disable client portal/invites upfront
- Select your Case Type and Subtype
- Enter the petitioner and beneficiary info
- For existing client(s), search and select their profile from the dropdown menu
- For new client(s), enter name and email address. DO NOT CHECK 'Send client portal login password'
- DO NOT CHECK 'Share case with client(s)'
- Select the Task list and Save
By doing this, your client(s) will NOT receive the login credential upon the case creation.
How to send out client invites afterwards?
- Go to Case Detail
- You will find a new section called 'Waiting for invitation'
- Click 'Invite' to activate the client portal
- For new client(s), click 'Send temporary password' in the 'Accessible Account' section
- For existing client(s), you do not have to click 'Send temporary password' because they can log in with the existing account credentials. If they do not remember the password, click this button to send them a temporary password for logging in.
